LEGENDS: A MILLION STORIES

HOW TO SELL MY STUFF IN 2033?

PHYSICAL COMPUTING GOES SOCIAL

NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN MOBILE ADVERTISING - WHAT'S EXCITING, AND WHAT'S USEFUL

Phones are integrated into everyday life. The average person checks their phone every 6 and a half minutes so as advertisers it makes sense to use mobile to interact with consumers.
NEW TECHNOLOGY
- feelable screens
- eye tracking
- targeting (make something pop up on a phone within 3 feet of your location)
- media native ads: incoorporate content into social media feeds/ make your ads look more like content

LEE CLOW
"MAKE IT SMART. MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL. HAVE FUN."
GEORGE LOIS
The name of the game isn't technology, it's creativity.
"YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE COURAGE TO FIGHT FOR YOUR WORK."
"DON'T EVER LET ANYONE FORCE YOU TO DO WORK THAT ISN'T GREAT."
"you cant just have talent you have to have the courage to not let anyone force you to do a job that isn't great"
It was really cool to hear the "original mad men" talk about their experiances in the industry.
KEY POINTS:
There were always great copywriters, but it was the idea that art directors should be involved in the conceptual process and not just decorate the copy that made advertising more visual and really great.
The turning point in the industry was when the ideas were at the center of advertising rather than just the sales
What is the role of the art director today?
We are still confused with what to do with the internet and social media. New media is waiting for the artists to take over and discover new ways to use technology.

Our class had the opportunity to meet with speaker, Ivan Perez-Armendariz before he spoke. We got to ask him questions about the industry and his personal experiances. We talked about the differences between smaller and larger agencies, 3D printing and what it takes to come up with a great idea.
WHAT WILL DRIVE THE 2.0 EVOLOUTION?
- democratization of technology
- hardware is the new software
- 3D printing
- lasar cutting
- ARDUINO will be the glue that connects the physical and digital world
- coming up with how consumers can interact with the brand in new ways

The Ruffletron
During this workshop we made predictions and talked about the future of advertising. They had an artist visually record out ideas as we spoke.
